In order to maintain these standards of excellence, the Hospital has established a Compliance/HIPAA Plan to ensure that it complies with the anti-kickback provisions of the Center of Medicare and Medicaid Services fraud and abuse statutes, the federal Ethics in Patient Referrals law (the “Stark Act”), the federal false claims laws (the “False Claims Laws”), and the Health Data Electronic Transactions and Privacy and Security Standards from the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (“HIPAA”).
