Ophthalmology Service Line Completes Ten Surgeries in First Week
Fresno Surgical Hospital (FSH) today announced the early success of its new ophthalmology surgery service line, launched on January 7. FSH’s new partnership with six ophthalmologists completed 10 surgeries in its first week.
The surgeries have utilized the $1.3 million plus in new technology Fresno Surgical Hospital purchased for the additional surgical capabilities, including but not limited to: microscopes, new instrument sets, ophthalmoscopes, the Verion Market System, Yag/SLT Lasers, and Constellations and Centurion for cataract and retina surgeries. The hospital anticipates approximately 3,000 ophthalmology surgery cases this year.
“Fresno Surgical Hospital has been an excellent environment to operate in,” says Dr. Daniel Prescott, who performed four retina cases at the hospital in the first week. “The new technology, combined with Fresno’s well-known reputation for a great patient experience, offers the optimal surgical environment.”
In addition to Dr. Prescott, the hospital’s other new physician partners are: George Bertolucci, M.D., Mehdi Ghajar, M.D., Andrew Maxwell, M.D., Richard Mendoza, M.D., and Carolyn Sakauye, M.D. All these physicians are board certified ophthalmologists.
“We are thrilled with the way staff, patients and new physician members have adopted the ophthalmology service line,” says Kristine Kassahn, Chief Executive Office of Fresno Surgical Hospital. “Their dedication and commitment to delivering the highest level of quality care and patient satisfaction in the Central Valley is truly amazing.”
In 2013, Fresno Surgical Hospital was ranked among the Top 10% in the Nation for Outstanding Patient Experience by Healthgrades and also received numerous awards for clinical quality by the industry-benchmarking organization.
