Laura A. Teasley, M.D. is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist, specializing in Vitreoretinal Surgery and Uveitis. She received her medical degree from Loma Linda University School of Medicine after first receiving Bachelor’s Degrees in both Biology and Chemistry from University of California, Santa Cruz. She completed her Residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, and her Fellowship in Vitreoretinal Surgery and Uveitis at Retina Specialists of Boston, located in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Dr. Teasley is a California native, recently returned after practicing in Washington State. She now looks forward to serving our Central California community with care and compassion. She has been a member of the Peace Corps, a Missionary Doctor with SIMS, and even part of Research Dives for other countries! She has been a team member for several medical research projects, a published author, and Assistant Professor at Loma Linda University.

Dr. Teasley is married and her hobbies and interests include her pug dogs, SCUBA, underwater photography, and wine collecting.

Dr. Thomas Shute is a fellowship-trained glaucoma and cataract surgeon. Dr. Shute’s family has been providing eye care to the people of the San Joaquin Valley for four generations.

A native of Clovis, Dr. Shute graduated from San Joaquin Memorial High School before joining the Leon S. Peters Honors Program at Fresno City College. After two years at Fresno City, he earned Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from the University of California, San Diego. He completed medical training at the UC San Diego School of Medicine.

Following his internship at Travis Air Force Base, Dr. Shute served four years as a flight surgeon in the U.S. Air Force. He completed ophthalmology residency as well as a fellowship in glaucoma and advanced anterior segment surgery at the prestigious Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Shute offers the full complement of micro-invasive glaucoma treatment techniques, in addition to traditional glaucoma surgeries. His practice also focuses on the surgical management of cataracts, utilizing the most advanced methods and intraocular lens implants available today.

In his free time, Dr. Shute enjoys snow skiing, hiking, fishing, and surfing. He is a passionate supporter of Fresno State athletics and proudly represents the Red Wave wherever he travels. He is excited to offer cutting-edge cataract and glaucoma treatment options to his friends and neighbors in the Central California community.

Frank Bishop is a Valley native who attended the University of the Pacific (UOP), graduating magna cum laude. At UOP, he played NCAA Division 1 water polo and swam, gaining recognition as an NCAA Scholar Athlete. He then received his M.D. from the F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, graduating with a Dean’s Letter of Commendation. After completing an internship in 1996, Dr. Bishop completed the Navy’s rigorous Undersea Medical Officer training before serving as the Diving Medical Officer for SEAL Delivery Vehicle Team ONE in Hawaii.

In 1999, Dr. Bishop entered his ophthalmology residency at Naval Medical Center San Diego (NMCSD). He was the first Navy ophthalmology resident in 20 years to participate in a humanitarian mission, performing cataract surgeries in Indonesia, followed by additional missions throughout the Pacific in 2006 aboard the Navy’s hospital ship, USNS Mercy, and to Burkina Faso, West Africa in 2008. In 2002, he became Head of Vision Services at the Naval Hospital, Guam, later returning to NMCSD in 2004. In 2012, Captain Bishop was honored with selection as Chairman of the NMCSD Ophthalmology Department.

In 2015, Captain Bishop was appointed Specialty Advisor for Ophthalmology by the Surgeon General, United States Navy. This was followed in 2017 by his selection as the Director of Surgical Services at NMCSD, where he led nearly 1,000 active duty and civilian personnel. His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Meritorious Service Medal, two Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, and the Army Achievement Medal.

In his spare time, Dr. Bishop enjoys traveling, eating, and spending time with his wife and two children.

EYE-Q partner Dr. Campbell Waldrop specializes in ophthalmic plastic surgery and minimally invasive cosmetic procedures. He earned his medical degree at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. He is a board-certified ophthalmologist and has completed additional fellowship training in ophthalmic plastic surgery at the University of Vermont.

Dr. Waldrop has been a member of many medical societies including the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He has published numerous articles for medical journals with the emphasis on ophthalmic plastic surgery and presented many of them at national and international symposiums and seminars.

Dr. Waldrop is an avid golfer and board member of The First Tee of Fresno—a non-profit organization that provides young people with character-building and life skills lessons. When not on the links, he enjoys traveling and spending time with his family and their dogs.

Dr. Derick G. Holt is a partner at EYE-Q. He specializes in comprehensive pediatric ophthalmology, treating a wide spectrum of eye disorders affecting children of all ages, from newborn infants to teenagers. His practice also includes the evaluation and treatment of adult strabismus.

After receiving his undergraduate degree from the University of Utah, where he graduated magna cum laude in both chemistry and biology, Dr. Holt earned his medical degree from the University of Utah School of Medicine. Holt then went on to complete his Ph.D. in oncological sciences at the Huntsman Cancer Institute. He completed his residency training at the Moran Eye Center, where he received the Resident Research Award and was one of four trainees in the nation selected to participate in the Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology (AUPO) Resident and Fellow Research Forum. Holt went on to receive fellowship training in pediatric ophthalmology at the prestigious Vanderbilt Eye Institute and Monroe Carell Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt University.

Dr. Holt is an active community member. During his residency, he provided clinical and surgical eye care to the underserved in the Salt Lake City area. Holt recently traveled to Guatemala City to provide eye care at a pediatric surgical center. He enjoys spending his free time with his family and looks forward to discovering what the Central Valley has to offer.

Dr. Animesh Petkar is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in treatment and surgery of vitreo-retinal diseases.Dr. Petkar received his Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from the University of California. Irvine. He completed his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine, graduating cum laude with honors. He completed his internship at Thomas Jefferson University Medical Center followed by a three-year residency in ophthalmology at Howard University Hospital in Washington D.C. Dr. Petkar went on to complete two years of fellowship training in vitreoretinal diseases and surgery at the Vitreoretinal Foundation in Memphis, Tennessee.

Dr. Petkar’s primary interests are intraocular lasers and vitreoretinal surgery. He specializes in the management of advanced retinopathy, diabetic macular edema, age-related macular degeneration and retinal detachment. Throughout his academic career, Dr. Petkar has been involved in a number of research projects, including laser photocoagulation for diabetic retinopathy and intraocular anti-angiogenesis factors. Dr. Petkar is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology

Dr. Petkar was born in Pune. India, and came to the United States the age of 10. He speaks multiple languages including Spanish, Hindi and Marathi. As an avid runner and swimmer. Dr. Petkar loves eating healthy and staying active in his spare time. He is excited to return to California and looks forward to discovering what the Central Valley has to offer.
