Dr. Minor’s initial introduction to Fresno and the surrounding communities came in 1990 when he accepted a scholarship to play baseball for Coach Bob Bennett and the Fresno State Bulldogs. He played on the 1991 College World Series team and was an All-American pitcher in his senior campaign. After two seasons of professional baseball with the St. Louis Cardinals, he matriculated to medical school at the University of Chicago, where he was elected president of his class. Dr. Minor completed six years of surgical training in Urology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), considered by experts to be one of the top five programs in the United States. Following a laparoscopic and robotic fellowship in Australia, he returned to the Central Valley in early 2007.

Timothy Van Dyne is a native of Fresno, living here with his wife for over 50 years. He did all of his pre-medical education here in the Valley, at Fresno State. Prior to his medical education he served in Vietnam and was a hospital corpsman specializing in Cardio-Pulmonary Technology in the 1960s. After leaving Navy Service he got married, worked at Community Hospital for a period of time, then started the Respiratory Therapy Department at Sierra Hospital. After working in Respiratory Therapy, he realized that medicine and surgery were his passion. He attended the California College of Podiatric Medicine, graduating in the top of his class in 1976. Dr. Van Dyne also attended Stanford for Dermatology and University of California Medical School for Radiology.

Dr. Van Dyne taught Respiratory Therapy at Bay City College and worked at Peninsula Hospital as head of the Respiratory Therapy Department in the evenings all through medical school. During medical school he tutored Anatomy, Physiology and Histology and was a teaching assistant in all of those classes. After his medical education was complete, he came back to Fresno where his parents and in-laws were living and started his medical practice. Early in his practice he worked with the American Heart Association where he taught CPR to other doctors and the general public. Later he became a lecturer for the Emergency Practices Seminar in the Hawaiian Islands for several years. The doctor also taught at Fresno State in RCFE for the elderly, for people who wanted to be licensed in care homes for the elderly. In the early 1980s Dr. Van Dyne became a pilot and began flying for the Fresno County Sheriff’s Air Squadron, where they fly search and rescue missions. He was elected Commander of The Air Squadron for 1999, and is still involved with them today, flying his Cessna 210 airplane. For relaxation he loves tennis, golf or archery and enjoys driving around in his 1954 Willis Jeep, which he has fully restored.

Dr. Thaxter graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1985 with a B.A. degree in biophysics. He earned his M.D. from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in 1989.

Dr. Thaxter completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of California at Davis in 1994. He has been board-certified with the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery since 1997.

Dr. Thaxter specializes in arthroscopy and minimally invasive surgeries of the hip and elbow, sports medicine, and joint reconstruction of the hip, knee, shoulder, and elbow. He is also a consulting physician for several athletic teams, including Fresno State, Reedley College, and many local high schools.

Dr. Schulz graduated from University of California, Los Angeles in 1988 with a B.S. degree in kinesiology. She earned her medical degree from the University Of Southern California School Of Medicine in 1993.

Dr. Schulz completed her orthopedic surgery residency at the University of California, Irvine in 1998.  Following this, she joined the faculty at the University of California, Irvine to practice orthopedic surgery. Her research interests at the University included the biomechanics of the patellofemoral joint and gender differences in the knee. She has recently returned to her hometown of Fresno to join Sierra Pacific Orthopedics.She is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the California Orthopaedic Association, and the Western Orthopaedic Association. She is board-certified with the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Dr. Schulz’s practice is focused on sports-related injuries, knee and hip joint replacements, as well as adult reconstructive surgery.

Dr. Alexander Majors was born and raised in Fresno, California. After graduating from Bullard High School in 1988, he attended the University of California at Berkeley, where he received an undergraduate degree in psychology before deciding to pursue a career in medicine.

Dr. Majors completed medical school at Saint George’s University and his General Surgery residency at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. He then completed a fellowship in Hand and Microsurgery at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. Dr. Majors is a diplomat in the American Board of Surgery; he is also a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons. He has obtained a Certificate of Added Qualification for Surgery of the Hand, and is an active member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.

Dr. Majors, Dr. Johnson, and Dr. Tanner utilize a team approach to care for a variety of throwing and upper extremity athletic injuries, combining diagnostic imaging, surgical intervention, and outstanding on-site athletic training and physical therapy. They are the team hand surgeons for the Fresno State Bulldogs, The Fresno Pacific Sunbirds, and the Fresno City Rams. These three physicians are also volunteer faculty members for the UCSF Orthopedic residency program in Fresno.

Dr. Majors specializes in disorders of the hand, wrist, and forearm, frequently treating acute or chronic injuries of the worker or athlete.

As a native of the Central Valley, Dr. Majors enjoys a variety of outdoor activities including cycling, skiing, and tennis. He spends most of his free time with his wife and three children.

Dr. Hanson received his Bachelor of Science degree in physiology at the University of California, Davis. From there, he went on to earn his medical degree at Loma Linda University School of Medicine. A surgical internship was completed at Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield, California. He completed four years of orthopedic residency at Loma Linda University. Dr. Hanson’s private practice opened in January 1989, after six months of service in the Orthopedic Traumatology Department at the Loma Linda affiliated County Medical Center in Riverside, California.

Dr. Hanson is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, having earned his board certification in 1991. Re-certification was accomplished in 2002 and 2009. He received his orthopedic subspecialty board certification in Sports Medicine in 2009. His professional memberships include the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the California Orthopedic Association, and the Fresno-Madera Medical Society.

Dr. Hanson’s practice focuses on sports medicine and adult reconstructive surgery with emphasis on the shoulder and knee. He has been a team physician at Fresno State University since 1991 and head team physician since 1996. Consulting team physician are ongoing with Fresno Grizzlies/San Francisco Giants. With his two brothers, Dr. Hanson was raised in Northern Thailand where his parents were medical missionaries for 10 years. Both of Dr. Hanson’s parents are physicians, having retired after many years of practice in Fresno. Along with church activities and yearly mission trips to Thailand, his interests include backpacking, telemark skiing, golfing, and spending time with his wife, Darlene, daughters Lauren and Allison, Lauren’s husband, DJ, and Allison’s husband, Jesse. They have been blessed with two grandchildren, Jedidiah and Riley.

Dr. Glaser is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with subspecialty fellowship training in foot and ankle. His practice encompasses sports medicine, adult reconstructive, and trauma surgery.

He serves as a team physician for California State University at Fresno and is a consulting physician for Fresno Pacific University. Dr. Glaser is trained in leading-edge orthopedic techniques, including ankle replacement surgery, arthroscopic and minimally invasive surgery, complex fracture care, and tendon reconstruction surgery. He also treats common foot problems, including bunions, hammer toes, neuromas, and plantar fasciitis.

Dr. Glaser graduated from Stanford University in 1989 with B.S. and M.S. degrees in biological sciences. He earned his M.D. from the University of California, Irvine, College of Medicine in 1994.

A native of Fresno, Dr. Glaser was valedictorian at Bullard High School in 1985. Dr. Glaser enjoys spending time with his family, camping, photography, skiing, and tennis. He is actively involved with the Boy Scouts of America.
