Dr. Mehdi Ghajar (Ghajarnia) specializes in Ophthalmology. He is American Board of Ophthalmology certified and fellowship trained in cornea & refractive surgery. Dr. Ghajar has earned inclusion on the Healthgrades Honor Roll.
Dr. Ghajar earned his medical degree in 2003 from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He completed his medical internship at Harbor Hospital in Baltimore, MD, where he rotated at the Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute. He returned to Pennsylvania to complete his ophthalmology residency at UPMC Eye & Ear Institute in 2007, before moving on to a surgically intense cornea & LASIK fellowship at the University of Utah’s John Moran Eye Center.
Since 2008, Dr. Ghajar has been introducing novel surgical methods to the Fresno area including suture-less corneal transplantation (DSAEK), artificial corneal transplant, telescopic lens implant for macular degeneration, and laser-assisted cataract surgery, which is now available in Fresno only at Fresno Surgical Hospital.

Dr. Bidar currently lives in Fresno with his wife Rachelle and two children. He grew up in the Central Valley and attended U.C. Davis where he obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Genetics. He finished his medical degree at the George Washington University School of Medicine with honors. Dr. Bidar completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Colorado in Denver. He received an approved two-year fellowship in Oculofacial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Vanderbilt University, St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital, and the University of Tennessee. Dr. Bidar has extensive training in eyelid and facial aesthetic and reconstructive surgery.
In addition to spending time with his family, Dr. Bidar enjoys mountain biking, hiking, and tennis. He joined the Eye Medical Center in 2005.
Dr. Bidar is one of only 600 surgeons in the country who is certified by the prestigious American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS) and the only one in the Fresno Area. Dr. Bidar is proud to say that he takes a caring and conservative approach to patients’ facial improvements. It is Dr. Bidar’s goal to customize a treatment plan that is unique to his patients’ specific needs. George Bertolucci, M.D. is Board Certified, specializing in diseases of the retina and vitreous. He received his medical degree from Creighton University, and he completed a residency in Ophthalmology at the University of California San Francisco, Fresno. He then completed a comprehensive retina fellowship at the Retina-Vitreous Associates Medical Group, Los Angeles. He is an investigator in many national trials for the treatment of age related macular degeneration. Dr. Bertolucci joined the Eye Medical Center in 1991. He is a native of Fresno and son of Dr. Frank Bertolucci who was also an Eye Medical Center physician for many years and is fondly remembered by his patients.
